Summary

Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea。 Her giants have risen—all of them, and they're stronger than ever。 They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens。 She needs their blood—the blood of Olympus—in order to wake。 The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood。 The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance。 Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it might be able to stop a war between the two camps。 The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east。 The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless。 How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option。 They have sacrificed too much already。 And if Gaea wakes, it is game over。

This book was a good ending to the whole series。 The start of this series was iffy but this brings it all together。 Love this book。 Overall just a good book。 Nothing much else to say! Twists and turns, and non stop demigod action!

Holy Hephaestus, I finished HOO and lived to read another day!I must say, The Blood of Olympus was harder to get into than I anticipated。 I flew through the other ones so easily, but this one was a tougher nut for me to crack。 I have my theories as to why it was that way, but it didn't pack the same punch as The Mark of Athena or The House of Hades did for me。I was reading other reviews and a few people have said something similar: the HOO series as a whole (as well as this book in particular) w Holy Hephaestus, I finished HOO and lived to read another day!I must say, The Blood of Olympus was harder to get into than I anticipated。 I flew through the other ones so easily, but this one was a tougher nut for me to crack。 I have my theories as to why it was that way, but it didn't pack the same punch as The Mark of Athena or The House of Hades did for me。I was reading other reviews and a few people have said something similar: the HOO series as a whole (as well as this book in particular) wasn't as cohesive as each individual book was。 I love each and every character we've met along the way, but at times, it felt as if there were too many POVs and too many storylines happening at one。 Not saying that the POVs or storylines weren't crucial to the plot - they absolutely were - but sometimes, it was a bit like whiplash jumping around from each POV。 Unrelated, but even though we didn't get a Percy POV, I was thrilled to have a Nico POV! 。。。more

The series it self is not bad on a whole, my problem really stems from this one book。

Finally got tired of trying to finish this book series, while we were both interested in seeing how the series ended, we just couldn't wade through the seemingly never-ending list of Gods, Demi-gods, demons and delays to get to the end。。。。 we just wanted it to end。 Finally got tired of trying to finish this book series, while we were both interested in seeing how the series ended, we just couldn't wade through the seemingly never-ending list of Gods, Demi-gods, demons and delays to get to the end。。。。 we just wanted it to end。 。。。more

。。。more

I was going to rate this a slightly higher two stars, but I've slept on it and I'm still feeling resentful towards how this series ended, so one star it is。 The characters and plots in these books are poor imitations of the magic Riordan created in the original Percy Jackson series。 The highlight of this book, for me, was Reyna。 In my opinion, Reyna displayed the most development out of all of them and she wasn't even on the page that often。 I wish Riordan had balanced character and plot a bit b I was going to rate this a slightly higher two stars, but I've slept on it and I'm still feeling resentful towards how this series ended, so one star it is。 The characters and plots in these books are poor imitations of the magic Riordan created in the original Percy Jackson series。 The highlight of this book, for me, was Reyna。 In my opinion, Reyna displayed the most development out of all of them and she wasn't even on the page that often。 I wish Riordan had balanced character and plot a bit better instead of dawdling through the storyline, only to rush at the end in order to give everyone a mediocre happily-ever-after。 。。。more

(re-read) Worst heroes of olympus book ever。 You're telling me that the war being built up for 5 books was condensed to like two chapters? Yeah, no。 On your first read, sure, it feels like the perfect end to the series。 That's certainly how I felt, all those years ago。 The war is over, everyone's finally going home。 You're feeling sad that the story's over; you still want more。 The demigods will live their lives as normally as they could now。 Hell, percabeth are even going to college。 Somehow, you want more, because these are the characters you fell in love with, the ones you want to be with for the rest of your life。 Danger's over, they're safe, and you're happy about it, but also sad because it's over。 Point is, on the first read, on the high of a series finale, adrenaline rushing through your veins, your emotions are all over the place, clouding your objective judgement。 And now that I picked it back up, and I realize that, truly, it was less of a war and more of a minor squabble, if I'm being honest, a very underwhelming one at that。 Plot-wise, it's the worst — all three stars on my rating are for the characters only。 BoO's only redeeming quality is the reynico pov (it's true!)。 The way I see it, all other loose ends — or most of them, at least — should have already been taken care of in the other books, so the actually significant battles could have lasted longer, and the characters could have attended to plot devices that actually matter。 Honestly, we were led to anticipate this very large, very deadly war that lasted only for all of two seconds。 Great writing! (/s) See: The Last Olympian。 That, right there, is a good example of an epic series finale。 We got the war action, the sexc "nobody touches her" scene, and a satisfying close。 And Blood of Olympus simply did not deliver。 But anyway, whatever, right? It's still a pretty okay book, I think。 Though I won't fault others for really not liking it。 。。。more
